I can’t tell you how many times I am at a session with a client and they ask about my equipment and say, “Yeah, I totally own a DSLR Camera, but I have no clue how to use it.”
I was that person. I had a DSLR Camera because I desperately wanted to take my own beautiful pictures of my daughter. I quickly learned that it wasn’t that easy. In fact, it was so hard to learn. The manual that comes with the camera was no help. I’m pretty sure I read it front to back 25 times at least and still got no where. I scoured the internet and you tube for tutorials explaining the exposure triangle and all these fancy terms that meant squat to me. It really took time and so much effort on my part to learn it all by myself. If only I would have had someone to sit down with me and really teach me what it all meant. Man that would’ve saved me time and frustration….
I feel like I’m so blessed to be able to take these types of images of my kids. They will be treasured for ever, once I’m old(er) and they’re all grown and moved away. I want that for other parents (and non-parents) out there too. For me, learning this art turned into an obsession and then ultimately a career. I never expected that would be what would happen. I am definitely not expecting that will happen with any of you either, but you may find passion and freedom in creating something beautiful too.
In the class I will go over the main settings on your DSLR Camera, and how changing each of them will effect your picture. I will go over basics of lighting and what to look for. Other basic info includes how to pick which lens is good for you, depth of field (how to make the background blurry), and how to make your pictures are in focus. The class can last anywhere from 2-3 hours. The length really depends on what you may already know and how quickly you pick it up. 🙂 I also offer a discount for multiple people signing up to learn together! So bring a friend or family member! Don’t have a DSLR Camera yet? Don’t worry!!! I have an extra one that you can practice with!
If you think this is something you might be interested in then give me a call and we can chat about your goals! BUT before you come to my class you should know that I always recommend my students to have a very basic 50mm 1.8 lens for their specific model of DSLR Camera. It’s not *necessary* but extremely helpful for learning on. You can find a 50mm 1.8 lens for a Canon here: http://amzn.to/1NCX7kO and the same lens for a Nikon here: http://amzn.to/1W7oGpg You’ll thank me later. xo
